FAQs

Build Process & Timeline

Q: How long does a build take?
A: The timeline depends on the level of customization, but most builds take 5–12 months from the start of production. We’ll provide you with a projected schedule and keep you updated weekly. On average, builds are completed in 5–6 months.

Q: How will I be updated on progress?
A: You’ll receive weekly update emails with the status of your build, including photos, milestones reached, and notes from our team.

Q: Can I request changes during the build?
A: Yes, we’ll accommodate adjustments where possible, though changes may affect timelines and costs. We’ll confirm any impact before moving forward.

Payments & Invoicing

Q: When are payments due?
A: Payments follow the schedule outlined in your contract (typically a staged structure such as deposit, mid-build, and final balance prior to delivery).

Q: Will I get a receipt?
A: Yes, we issue a digital invoice for every transaction.

Title, Tag & Registration

Q: How do I register my Shoreline vehicle?
A: We’ll prepare all of the required documentation and send it to you with your vehicle. Once your car has shipped, we’ll also send you a detailed email outlining the step-by-step process of registering an imported vehicle. Our team will be available throughout to answer questions and provide assistance or clarification at any stage of the process..

Q: Can Shoreline register the vehicle for me?
A: In some states, we can assist with registration. If this option is available in your location, we’ll provide the details. Please note that this is offered as an additional service and involves a separate fee.

Engine Swap Builds

Q: What happens if my build includes an engine swap?
A: When your vehicle first arrives in the U.S., it will be delivered to you in its current state so that you can complete the registration process.

Q: When does the engine swap take place?
A: Once your registration is complete, we’ll arrange for your vehicle to be collected and transported to our shop to perform the engine swap. This process typically takes 2–4 weeks, depending on the engine selected and the availability of parts.

Q: How is the vehicle delivered after the swap?
A: After the engine swap is finalized, your Shoreline vehicle will be delivered back to you by one of our team members, who will provide a proper handover and walk you through the vehicle in detail.

Shipping & Delivery

How long does it take for my vehicle to ship from the UK to the U.S.?
A: If ship spots are available, the journey typically takes about 3–4 weeks from departure to arrival. During peak shipping seasons, vessels can book up quickly, and it may take an additional couple of weeks to secure a booking before your vehicle is loaded.

Q: Can I track my vehicle’s shipment?
A: Yes, we provide shipping updates once your vehicle departs and stays in touch until it’s in your driveway.

Q: Who manages customs clearance for my vehicle?
A: Shoreline manages the entire customs clearance process on your behalf through our shipping partner.

Q: What information do I need to provide?
A: We’ll request a Power of Attorney (POA) for the importer/shipping partner to handle all customs paperwork.

Q: What if I’m registering the vehicle under a business?
A: If the vehicle will be registered under a business, please let Shoreline know in advance of shipping. This ensures that the shipping invoice is issued correctly to the business or individual who will be registering the vehicle in the US.

Q: How soon after customs clearance will I receive my vehicle?
A: Once customs clearance is complete, your vehicle will be released to Shoreline’s transport team. From there, we’ll arrange delivery to your specified address. In most cases, this takes just a few days depending on transport scheduling and your location. We’ll keep you updated throughout the process and confirm delivery timing with you directly.

Q: How will my vehicle be delivered?
A: All Shoreline builds include white-glove delivery. Your vehicle will be transported to your address, detailed, and presented by our team or one of our trusted logistics partners.

Q: Will my vehicle be ready to drive upon delivery?
A: Yes. Your Shoreline Defender will arrive inspected, detailed, and fueled, so it’s ready to drive upon delivery. That said, the full registration process must still be completed before it can be legally driven on public roads.

Warranty & Service

Q: When does my warranty start?
A: Your one-year Shoreline warranty begins on the day of handover. A digital copy will be emailed to you prior to delivery for your review and signature, ensuring you have it for reference before coverage begins.

Q: What does the warranty cover?
A: Our warranty covers workmanship, components installed by Shoreline, and specified mechanical systems. Wear-and-tear items are excluded. Full details are in your warranty document.

Q: Where can I have my vehicle serviced?
A: We’ll guide you to trusted service partners in your area or, where possible, handle service directly through our Shoreline team.
