This Series 2A, known to us as Penn, was commissioned for a customer in Philadelphia who wanted a true classic. Not a Defender. The original. The Series 2A is the Land Rover that came before the Defender name existed, and the truck that shaped what the brand would become. Penn started life as a 1964 donor, then was brought back as a Shoreline.

The original 2.25L gas engine was fully rebuilt and kept paired with the original 4-speed manual gearbox. No engine swap. No automatic conversion. The drivetrain Land Rover put in this car sixty years ago, properly restored.

The body was finished in Nardo Grey with silver aluminum trim, two half-height doors, two round wing-mounted mirrors, and a drop-down rear tailgate in body color with leather chain guards. Black steel wheels on BFG All-Terrain tires. A new 8-part exterior light kit and inner arch splash guards finish it off. Clean, honest, and unmistakably a Series.

Inside, the original metal dashboard was kept and painted in body color, with the original Series gauges and hardware preserved. The view from the driver's seat is the same as it was in 1964. A Bluetooth sound system was integrated discreetly, hidden from view, so the period look stays untouched and music is still part of the drive.

Three classic front seats in distressed chocolate leather with cream piping. TWIX-style rear cushions in matching leather, with poppers fitted to the wheel arches. Two half-height leather door cards, a leather gear gaiter, and a wood steering wheel with a new boss. Teak runs through the front footwells and across the rear deck, warm against the cold metal of the dash.
