Start your journey by booking a custom design appointment with our Land Rover Experts. We will help you design your perfect car, whether it be a beach runner or a daily driver.

Where every build begins

Every Shoreline build starts with a conversation. You tell us how you want to use the car, how you want it to look, and what you want out of it. Weekend driver, daily driver, beach car, long-haul tourer. Every build is different because every owner is different.

Whether you are looking at a custom Defender 90, a custom Defender 110, or a classic Land Rover Defender pickup, we walk you through the options. Wheelbase, engine, interior, color, trim. We tell you what works and what does not based on what we have built and what we know.

No pressure. No upsell. A proper conversation about what you actually want from a custom Land Rover Defender, and what a ground-up Shoreline build can do for you.

Order Confirmation

Once happy with your base configuration, sign a digital contract to confirm your build slot. You gain access to our online tracking system to monitor weekly progress and photos.

Your build, in your hands

Once the base configuration is locked in, we send across a digital contract covering your build slot, the core specification, and the timeline. From the day you sign, the clock starts on your Land Rover Defender build.

You get login access to our online build tracker. Weekly photos. Stage-by-stage updates. You see the chassis when it comes out of the donor, the body when it goes into paint, the interior when it is being trimmed.

Nothing is hidden. If you have a question mid-build, you can see exactly where we are before you ask it. It is the level of transparency we would want as a customer, so it is the level we offer as a builder.

Custom Samples

We send you a set of Shoreline Defender custom samples to choose your final build color and upholstery. This is your first chance to physically feel the quality of your future vehicle.

Materials in your hands, not on a screen

Screens do not do leather justice. Neither do photos of paint. Before we order any of the bespoke components for your custom Defender, we send you a physical sample pack. Paint cards, leather swatches, stitching colors, dashboard finishes, carpet and teak options.

You hold the material. You see it in your own light. This is where the Defender interior starts to feel real, and where most clients make their final call on color and trim.

A luxury Defender interior is not something to pick from a thumbnail. It is part of every conversation, and this is the step where it stops being a spec sheet and starts being a car.

Donor Car & Chassis

We source a genuine donor car and begin disassembly. The chassis is brought up to modern condition, strengthened, and repainted, forming the perfect foundation for your build.

Where reliability starts

Every Shoreline build starts with a genuine donor. An original classic Land Rover Defender, sourced for the right year, the right wheelbase, and the right starting condition. We do not cut corners on the donor. What you start with dictates what you finish with.

The vehicle is stripped down to the bare chassis. We inspect it, strengthen it, and treat it for corrosion before it gets repainted or galvanized. This is the foundation of a classic Defender that will still be driving in twenty years. Not one that will start rusting in five.

The reliability of a Land Rover Defender does not come from the badge. It comes from the work done at this stage. Done properly, or not at all.

05.

Confirm Build Spec

With the car stripped to basic parts and ready for paint, we give you one final option to review and confirm your specifications before we order the final bespoke components.

The last call on the details

At this stage the car is stripped, the chassis is painted, and the body is ready for prep. Before we order the final bespoke parts, we walk you through the specification one more time.

Wheels and tires. Soft top or hard top. Roof rack or no roof rack. Side steps, winch, exhaust finish, badge work. For a Defender 110, we cover trim options and load bay. For a Defender 90, we cover whether it is going soft top or hard top.

This is the last window to change your mind on the finishing details. After this, the parts are on their way and the build is moving. Most clients land close to where they started. Some fine-tune. Either is fine.

06.

Drivetrain & Body

We fit refurbished differentials, new axles, upgraded brakes, and a fully rebuilt engine. The body is painted to Range Rover standards, soundproofed, and fitted with new electricals.

Where the Defender earns its reputation

Drivetrain is where a Land Rover Defender either earns its reputation or loses it. Depending on the edition, we fit a rebuilt original engine such as a 300TDi or TD5, or an LS3 V8 conversion for our Modern builds.

Axles, differentials, and brakes are rebuilt or replaced. Suspension is upgraded to match how the car will be used. The entire wiring loom is replaced, not patched, because a 30-year-old British harness is one of the most common failure points in any classic Defender.

The body goes through the same paint process as a Range Rover. Soundproofing is applied throughout. This is the stage where the Defender stops being an old truck and starts being a Shoreline.

07.

Interior Refit

Your custom interior comes to life. Leather-wrapped dashboards, teak flooring, new gauges, and modern comforts like air conditioning and premium sound systems are installed.

Built, not bolted in

The Defender interior is built, not assembled. Hand-stitched leather on the seats and the dash. Teak flooring or carpet, your call. Modern gauges, climate control, premium audio, USB charging, Apple CarPlay if you want it.

Classic Defenders are characterful vehicles. We make them genuinely comfortable to live with day to day, without losing what makes them special. A luxury Defender interior is not about ticking boxes. It is about making a vehicle you actually want to spend time in.

Every stitch, every panel, every switch is built around how you said you wanted to use the car. That is what turns a restored Defender into a Shoreline.

08.

Final Fit & Testing

Billet aluminum exterior components are added. The vehicle undergoes a 24-hour inspection and a 500-mile road test to ensure every component meets our rigorous standards.

Nothing leaves the workshop unproven

Once the body, interior, and drivetrain are all together, the finishing work begins. Billet aluminum trim, badging, final detailing. Then the car goes into testing.

A 24-hour systems inspection. A 500-mile road test. Every electrical system, every mechanical system, every creak, every rattle. Checked, logged, and signed off. If something is not right, it gets put right before the car leaves our workshop.

The 12-month warranty on every Shoreline Defender build exists because the car has been through this. The warranty is a reflection of the standard, not a sales feature. A restomod Defender should drive like one. This is the stage that makes sure yours does.

09.

Delivery & Handover

Your car is vacuum wrapped and shipped. Upon arrival, it is detailed, re-checked for 50 miles, and presented to you with our white-glove handover service. Your adventure begins.

From our workshop to yours

Your custom Land Rover Defender is detailed, vacuum-wrapped, and shipped. We deliver worldwide. From our workshops in the UK and Miami, we have handed over Defender 90s and Defender 110s across Europe, the United States, and beyond.

When the car arrives at your location, we detail it again, re-check it on the road, and hand it over in person. You get the keys, the documentation, and the 12-month warranty. We walk you through every detail of the build before we leave.

From there, the car is yours. Where it goes next is up to you.
