Vero

This Defender 90, known to us as Vero, was commissioned for a customer in Florida who wanted a Modern Soft Top with the contemporary look the Modern edition is known for, and a drivetrain spec that could handle real highway driving. A daily-driver coastal Defender, finished with an eye for detail.

The drivetrain was specified with a reconditioned TD5 engine paired with the original manual transmission. The customer chose to keep the engaged feel of a manual gearbox and matched it with a custom highway-speed gear ratio, giving the build the pickup needed for long stretches of road without losing the analog character of an original Defender. The Shoreline Dynamic Ride suspension and steering upgrade components, paired with the Shoreline brake upgrade, dial the handling in for the way a Modern build should drive.

The body was finished in Nardo Grey with body color wide arches, and a Black canvas soft top over heavy duty black hood bars. Full doors painted body color on the inside. A gloss Black front grille with matching headlight surrounds, smoked LED headlights, side runner bar steps, and an NAS style rear step finish the exterior. Five 18 x 8 gloss Black XTR2 alloy wheels paired with Cooper STT Pro tires. Black hardware throughout the exterior, including the bumper with LED driving lights, hinges, mirror arms, vents, handles, badging, and bolt kit.

The build's quiet differentiator is in the contrast. Where the exterior runs blacked out, the interior runs silver. Two-tone by design, with each side of the build telling its own story.

Inside, the cabin was built around tan fluted leather and silver aluminum hardware. Puma sports style front seats and four individual rear seats in matching fluted tan. A fluted tan cubby box with an integrated subwoofer sits in the center. Full tan leather across the dashboard, binnacle, fuse box cover, AC unit, door cards, sun visors, and gaiters. Silver aluminum door handles wrapped in tan leather, gear and transfer knobs, heater control handles, hand brake handle, and a black leather MoMo steering wheel with quick release. Front black drop-in carpet, teak load bay flooring, and new custom gauges finish the cabin.

Tech is handled through a 9-inch Pioneer screen with Apple CarPlay and a reverse camera, paired with a six-speaker audio system, amplifier, and subwoofer. Two USB and USB-C sockets in the front, electric windows, remote central locking, and a starter motor immobilizer switch round out the package.
